Cardano Plugs Into Coinbase’s Open Payment Protocol

Cardano (ADA) just received native support on the x402 codebase, bringing the Layer-1 network to various x402-based applications and AI agents. Originally built by Coinbase, this open protocol has a reference tooling kit that runs on client, server & facilitator components.

What Cardano’s x402 Support Brings To The Table

The implementation was made by the Cardano Foundation engineers, allowing long-dormant “402 Payment Required” status code to run on applications, requesting & making Cardano (ADA)-powered payments directly over the internet. AI agents can then pay for APIs & other digital services in a seamless manner.

Aside from the founding member Coinbase, the x402 Foundation has hemmed a huge roster of major enterprises & organizations, including Amazon Web Services, American Express, Circle, Coinbase, Google, Mastercard, Ripple, Shopify, Solana Foundation, Stellar Development Foundation (SDF), Stripe and Visa.

Previously, that kind of functionality was only available via third-party implementations of x402, with Masumi Network standing out as an exquisite example. Now, the native support from the Coinbase-derived payments protocol allows any custom-made agentic economy to settle transfers in Cardano (ADA) outside any third-party limitations.

Will This Reflect On Cardano’s (ADA) Price Now?

With the global markets awaiting the results from the September 15, 2026 vote on the CLARITY Act, much of the near-term direction will be decided in the Senate. For Cardano (ADA) specifically, holding above the green-label Double EMA trend-line will be as crucial. The OG altcoin is trading just fractions below this threshold right now at $0.2062.

The bigger issue is the distribution of assets by crypto whales. Measured on the real-time price charts, the big-time players are reducing their balances: the Chaikin Money Flow (CMF) hovers between -0.10 to 0.20 on miscellaneous time-frames, according to TradingView’s data.

The altcoin has also found itself at an extremely-oversold condition on Spot markets. Judging from the Stochastic Relative Strength Index (StochRSI), this metric has shifted to low figures between 12 and 14, indicating that Cardano’s (ADA) is technically under-valued against the current market conditions.
