Introduced by Congressman Al Green of Texas, the articles of impeachment charge President Trump with abusing the powers of the presidency by using ICE and CBP as paramilitary forces terrorizing communities across the country.
WASHINGTON, D.C. (September 15, 2026) – 147 members of the US House of Representatives voted today to advance Congressman Al Green’s articles of impeachment against President Trump for high crimes and misdemeanors. This marks the highest level of support in Congress for Trump’s impeachment in his second term.
Filed as H.Res. 1486, the articles of impeachment charge President Trump with abusing the powers of the presidency by allowing Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Customs and Border Protection (CBP) to operate without accountability. They cite assaults on civilians, unlawful arrests and detentions, suppression of constitutionally protected speech, violations of due process, defiance of judicial oversight, and the concealment of killings involving federal immigration agents.

Today’s vote marks the latest effort to hold President Trump accountable for what constitutional scholars and advocates describe as an escalating pattern of impeachable abuses of power.
In a letter to his colleagues prior to the vote, Rep. Green wrote, “Congress is the court of last resort to achieve justice for Renée Good, Alex Pretti, Lorenzo Salgado Araujo, and Johan Sebastián Durán Guerrero. Congress becomes the house of justice when federal courts cannot act[.]”
