Crypto.com to launch prediction markets tracking AI jobs and adoption

Crypto.com will introduce prediction contracts that will allow users to forecast how quickly artificial intelligence is changing workplaces, consumer habits and major industries.

Over 20 contracts will begin rolling out in September, and unlike markets tied to elections or sporting results, their outcomes will depend on surveys and company disclosures measuring how people and businesses use AI.

Users can trade on future AI trends

Crypto.com and PYMNTS agreed to an exclusive two-year partnership for the new products, according to their announcement.

The contracts will trade through OG Prediction Markets, an exchange and clearinghouse regulated by the US Commodity Futures Trading Commission, and Crypto.com and other partners will provide access to them.

The first group will cover consumer behaviour, workplace changes, company adoption, healthcare, retail and financial services. Also, about 25 additional contracts are expected each quarter.

Although individual questions have not been published, the idea is, for example, a contract could ask whether AI use among American workers will exceed a stated level in the next survey.

Participants would then bet based on what they expect the survey to find, and the result would then determine which contracts pay out.

This means users will not be betting directly on whether AI succeeds or fails, but what they will be doing is forecasting what future research reveals about its adoption and economic effects.

PYMNTS data will determine the outcomes

The markets will rely exclusively on measurements produced by PYMNTS Intelligence.

Its consumer research surveys 4,000 US adults each month about their use of AI in areas such as work, education, shopping and healthcare.

A separate quarterly survey covers 500 US companies, and this examines how businesses use AI agents and automation. The look is to check whether productivity has improved and how employment or software needs have changed.

PYMNTS will also examine company filings, earnings materials and public statements to see if there is any evidence of AI investment, revenue and workforce effects.

The organization has collected nearly 30 months of historical information, and this will provide a good point to start measuring future changes.

Final Summary

  • Crypto.com will begin introducing more than 20 AI prediction contracts in September.
  • Outcomes will be determined using PYMNTS surveys and analysis of company disclosures.
