TLDR

  • Saylor said he never sold personal Bitcoin, separating his holdings from Strategy’s corporate treasury actions.
  • Strategy sold 1,638 BTC last week, raising $104.73 million and reducing holdings to 842,138 BTC.
  • The company raised $290.6 million through common stock sales while rebuilding its USD reserve position.
  • Strategy repurchased 912,143 STRC preferred shares for $81.2 million as dividend focus increased this week.
  • Saylor said Strategy may buy or sell Bitcoin, but its long-term conviction remains unchanged overall.

Michael Saylor said he has never sold any personal Bitcoin, while clarifying that Strategy can buy or sell BTC as part of its public-company capital management.

Saylor Separates Personal Bitcoin From Strategy Holdings

Saylor addressed confusion after posts claimed Strategy had moved away from his “Never Sell Your Bitcoin” message. He said the phrase was personal guidance between individual holders, not a fixed corporate treasury rule.

“When I say ‘Never Sell Your Bitcoin,’ I speak as one saver to another,” Saylor said. He added, “I have never sold mine. Not one satoshi.”

Saylor also said Strategy is different from his personal wallet. He said, “Strategy is a public company, not my wallet.”

The comment came after Strategy sold 1,638 Bitcoin last week. The company raised $104.73 million from the sale and used capital actions to support reserves and preferred securities.

Strategy has disclosed since 2020 that it may buy or sell Bitcoin to manage capital. Saylor said the company’s shared conviction in Bitcoin remains unchanged.

Strategy Sells BTC and Lifts USD Reserve

Strategy’s Bitcoin sale reduced its holdings to 842,138 BTC. Those holdings were acquired for $63.51 billion at an average price of $75,419 per Bitcoin.

The company also raised $290.6 million through common stock sales. The proceeds added flexibility as Strategy manages its Bitcoin treasury, reserves, and preferred stock obligations.

Strategy lifted its USD reserve by $250 million during the latest update. The total reserve now stands at $4 billion.

The company also repurchased 912,143 shares of STRC preferred stock for $81.2 million. STRC has become a major focus after Strategy issued high-yield preferred stock to support its funding model.

Strategy said it will keep STRC’s annual dividend rate at 12%. The company said it does not plan to recommend a cut until STRC trades consistently near its stated $100 value.

Viral $5B Bitcoin Sale Claim Draws Pushback

Saylor also pushed back against claims that Strategy had newly approved up to $5 billion in Bitcoin sales. The figure came from a capital plan announced on June 29, not a fresh weekend decision.

The plan includes a BTC monetization program that gives Strategy flexibility to sell Bitcoin. The framework does not require Bitcoin sales but allows them for specific capital needs.

The $5 billion figure comes from several spending limits. These include $1.25 billion for cash reserves, $1 billion for preferred share buybacks, $1 billion for common stock buybacks, and about $1.76 billion for annual dividends and interest.

Strategy had already shifted toward active capital management before the latest debate. The company made its first Bitcoin sales in years to help cover dividend costs.

Critics have argued that STRC creates added cash pressure. Peter Schiff said recent Bitcoin and MSTR share sales lowered Strategy’s Bitcoin yield and increased focus on STRC funding needs.
