Oil Tops $100 as Wall Street Faces Pressure

Brent crude climbed above $100 a barrel on Wednesday for the first time in six weeks. The move came after fresh escalation in fighting involving the U.S., Iran and Iran-backed groups raised concerns about Gulf energy supplies.

Brent has now risen roughly 25% since early August. Disruptions through the Strait of Hormuz have reduced global supply.

Higher oil prices could push inflation up and keep interest rates elevated for longer. That adds pressure on consumer spending and corporate profit margins.

Energy stocks were among the few outperformers on Wednesday while the major U.S. indexes traded lower.

Meta Launches Muse AI Agent

Meta shares rose around 5% after the company launched Muse, a personal AI agent that goes beyond basic chatbot functions. Muse can send emails, arrange travel and make purchases on behalf of users.

The assistant connects to other apps and can work on tasks in the background. It is launching in the U.S. through Meta’s own app and WhatsApp, with free and paid versions.

Meta’s AI spending is expected to reach as much as $145 billion this year. Muse is one of the clearest signs yet of how the company plans to turn that spending into real products and revenue.

Google Bets $15 Billion on Finnish Data Centers

Google announced plans to invest at least $15.1 billion in Finland over the next two years. The project includes three new data centers in northern Finland, where the cold climate helps manage the heavy cooling demands of AI computing.

Google also signed a 22-year deal with Finnish utility Fortum to buy nuclear electricity. The investment shows how AI infrastructure spending is expanding beyond chips to include data centers, utilities and nuclear power.

Apple Enters the Foldable Phone Market

Apple unveiled its first foldable iPhone, one of the biggest changes to the product line in years. It is also the first major product launch under new CEO John Ternus.

The device folds from a smartphone into a tablet-style screen and is aimed at premium buyers. Pricing is expected to start above $2,000.

Apple arrives later than Samsung, Huawei and several Chinese manufacturers. Industry forecasts suggest Apple could quickly take a large share of global foldable phone sales.

Cloudflare Surges on OpenAI Cybersecurity Deal

Cloudflare shares climbed 8-9% on Wednesday, trading around $307 during the morning session. Investors responded to growing interest in its partnership with OpenAI and a new cybersecurity service called Vulnerability Discovery and Remediation.

The service combines Cloudflare’s global network with OpenAI’s GPT-5.6 Cyber model. It can find software vulnerabilities, flag potential attacks and generate code fixes automatically.

The product was announced last week, but investor enthusiasm picked up Wednesday as the market viewed the OpenAI tie-up as a strong endorsement of Cloudflare’s position in AI-powered security.
