New National Poll: Majority of Voters Support Impeaching Donald Trump Just 14 Months Into His Term

Unprecedented early-term support underscores growing demand for accountability

WASHINGTON, D.C. — A new national poll conducted by Lake Research Partners and commissioned by Free Speech For People finds that a majority of likely 2026 voters nationwide support impeaching President Donald Trump—an extraordinary and unprecedented level of support so early in a presidential term.

According to the survey, 52% of voters support impeachment, while 40% are opposed. Intensity is high on both sides, with 46% strongly supporting impeachment and 37% strongly opposing it.

Support for impeachment spans party lines:

  • Democrats: 84% support, 8% oppose
  • Independents: 55% support, 34% oppose
  • Republicans: 14% support, 81% oppose

“This poll confirms what we are seeing across the country: the American people understand that Donald Trump poses a direct threat to our Constitution and to the rule of law and must be impeached and removed from public office,” said John Bonifaz, Co-Founder and President of Free Speech For People.

The findings reflect a broad and growing demand for constitutional accountability, cutting across partisan divides and including a majority of independent voters.

On December 11, 2025, 140 Members of Congress voted to advance Rep. Al Green’s articles of impeachment focused on Trump’s threat to execute Members of Congress and his threats and intimidation against federal judges. The vote marked a 77% increase in support for impeachment in the House since the prior House vote in June of last year.

Free Speech For People has led a nationwide campaign to hold Donald Trump accountable, with more than one million Americans already signing a petition urging Congress to impeach and remove him from office.
