Smith was told last month that she should attend a meeting with police after Harlow’s complaint. The Free Speech Union, which supported her, said she had been told to accept a formal warning or that she would be prosecuted. However, the union said it had since been made clear that no further action would be taken.
Fraser Hudghton, Scotland director for the Free Speech Union, said police had come to the “correct conclusion” but only after a public backlash.
