MoonPay has launched PayBox, a payment vault that connects ChatGPT and Claude with online payment services. The platform lets users prepare purchases, transfers, trades and bookings without leaving a conversation. However, users retain direct control through passkeys, transaction limits, and selected approval rules.
PayBox Connects Conversational Tools With Payments
Users install PayBox as a custom connector inside ChatGPT or Claude. They then create an account, register a passkey, and add a wallet or payment card. MoonPay also requires identity verification when users fund the vault through a linked card.
The service supports crypto purchases, token swaps, asset transfers, and decentralized finance activity. It also handles travel bookings, restaurant reservations, and purchases from participating online retailers. Each request starts with a plain-language instruction submitted through the connected assistant.
The assistant researches available options and prepares the requested payment or blockchain transaction. Under the default approval model, the user confirms each action using a registered passkey. Alternatively, autonomous settings allow transactions within limits selected by the account holder.
PayBox Uses Split Keys and Transaction Controls
PayBox stores payment methods without exposing complete card or wallet credentials to the connected assistant. MoonPay protects wallet keys through multi-party computation and trusted execution environments. Therefore, no single system can independently access the full key or approve transfers.
Card payments use Visa’s agent commerce protocol to avoid revealing raw card numbers. Meanwhile, every passkey approval applies to one specific transaction and expires immediately after use. This design limits the value of stolen credentials, copied approvals, or compromised devices.
Users can select Always Ask or Autonomous permissions for their accounts. Always Ask requires human approval before every payment, transfer, or blockchain action. Autonomous mode follows spending limits and other controls chosen by the user.

PayBox Expands Blockchain and Online Service Support
At launch, PayBox supports Solana and several networks compatible with Ethereum software. Those networks include Ethereum, Base, Arbitrum, Polygon, Hyperliquid, Tempo and Robinhood Chain. MoonPay plans to add more blockchain networks after the initial release.
The platform also works with services using x402, an open standard for machine-initiated payments. Current integrations cover restaurant reservations, online shopping, and flight bookings through selected providers. Coinbase developed x402, while the Linux Foundation now governs the standard with support from major technology and payment companies.
MoonPay built the vault on infrastructure from Sodot, which it acquired earlier this year. Sodot’s systems secure more than $50 billion in assets and over 10 million wallets. MoonPay now combines that system with a platform serving more than 1,700 enterprise clients across its global payment network.
