A review from a barrister into the incidents was published in May 2021, and Anthony Forster, the university’s vice-chancellor, apologised and acknowledged that “serious mistakes” had been made.
Yet in November of the same year, the Free Speech Union wrote a pre-action letter to the university claiming that it had failed to act on the recommendations of the review and its policies remained in breach of free speech law.
